Sacraments

Sacrament Forms

We are excited to be a part of you and your child’s relationship with Jesus Christ and His Church through the Sacrament of Baptism!

Through baptism, your child will be adopted into God’s family, receive the grace of salvation won for us by Jesus Christ’s death and resurrection, and have life in the Holy Spirit.

As the doorway into God’s Grace, Baptism enables your child to grow in holiness by receiving the other Sacraments as they mature.

Preparation for infant baptism requirements:

  • Is your child 6 years old or younger?
  • Is at least one parent a registered parishioner of St. Joseph Catholic Church? If not, can you provide a letter from your pastor that you are a practicing Catholic and have permission to have your child baptized at St. Joseph Church?

If you can answer YES to all the questions, you may be ready to request the Sacrament of Baptism for your child. To register your child for Baptism, please contact Chris Baltes requesting to have your child baptized.

If you have a child that is between the ages of 7 years old – 8th grade and needs to be baptized, please email our Director of Youth Faith Formations to begin preparations.

Are you an adult looking to receive the sacraments of Reconciliation, Eucharist, and/or Confirmation? If so, please click on the link below.

Holy Communion, or the Eucharist, refers to Christ’s body, blood, soul, and divinity truly present in the consecrated bread and wine.

Catholics in a state of grace receive Jesus in the Eucharist during Holy Communion at each Mass. It is during First Holy Communion that we receive the Holy Eucharist for the first time.

  • Is your child Baptized in the Catholic Church?
  • Is your child in 2nd - 8th grade?
  • Has your child received prior faith formation in any of the following forms: parish religious education program, Catholic school, homeschool?
  • Does your family attend Mass on Sundays and Holy Days?
  • Does your child desire to receive the Sacraments of Reconciliation and Holy Communion?

If you answered ‘yes’ to ALL the questions, your child may be ready to enter the Sacrament of Reconciliation/Holy Communion preparation program.

The sealing of the Holy Spirit in Confirmation is the final Sacrament of Initiation into the Catholic Church.

By the Sacrament of Confirmation, the baptized are more perfectly bound to the Church and are enriched with a special strength of the Holy Spirit.

Is your child in 7th or 8th grade and has a desire to receive the Sacrament of Confirmation? If so, please click the link below.

If you are engaged and planning to be married: Congratulations! Arrangements for the Sacrament of Marriage must be made at least six months in advance of the anticipated wedding date.

The celebration you are planning, and the lifelong commitment you are choosing to make, are signs of God’s great love for us all.

Over the course of several meetings with the priest or deacon before the ceremony, a couple will learn about the Sacrament and each other.

Please contact Abbie Spillis in the Parish Office to begin the process.

The ending of a marriage is a difficult experience, and divorce is one of life’s tragedies.

Many marriages end in divorce in spite of good intentions and the establishment of a family. We are sensitive to the pain and stress that a failed marital relationship brings to those involved.

We are here to assist those who want to know more and those who want to file a petition for an Annulment.

Want to talk to someone about the process and learn more about what an Annulment is? Contact Fr. Eric Schild.

If you are feeling called to the priesthood or permanent diaconate, please schedule an appointment with one of our priests or deacons to learn more and begin discerning this vocation with them.

Please call the Parish Office if you would like to receive the Sacrament of Anointing of the Sick.

We highly encourage anyone who is struggling with a serious illness of mind, body, or spirit, or who is anticipating surgery, to call us to set up a time to be anointed.

Parishioners who desire this sacrament in an emergency are asked to please call the Parish Office, 419-893-4848.

We do have phone numbers available to you 24 hours a day for emergencies.

Beginning in early September and continuing throughout the school year, St. Joseph Parish offers Children’s Liturgy of the Word during the 11 a.m. mass for children ages four through eight.

During the Liturgy of the Word, the children are invited to a classroom for Scripture readings that are tailored to their level of understanding.

Through appropriately adapted Scripture texts, music, prayer and activities, the children can experience a deeper understanding and participation in the liturgy.

No registration is necessary. If you would like to volunteer as a catechist, or have any other questions, please contact Stephanie Stasa.
