Music of the Roman Missal
Please visit: http://www.npm.org/Chants/index.html This site contains both musical notation and sound recordings of the various chants found in the new Roman Missal. Of particular interest will be the chants found under the “Order of Mass.” Compared to the 1974 Sacramentary, the 2010 Roman Missal contains many more musical settings of the Mass texts. With the exception of the homily the entire Mass could be sung from beginning to end. While this may not be the typical practice, certain parts of the Mass may be chanted that are more typically recited, particularly on more solemn occasions. All English-speaking Catholics should be familiar with the various chants that pertain to the congregation even though other composed musical settings are more frequently used for Sunday Mass. The major Catholic hymnal publishers (GIA, OCP, & WLP) also offer sound clips of the various revised and new musical settings of the Mass that are commercially available http://www.giamusic.com/sacred_music/ In addition to the above mentioned publishers, the following publishers also offer missals/missalettes and other resource books for sale for those who wish to purchase their own. Or visit a local Catholic Bookstore.
