Mrs. Zavac's Biography

Mrs. Zavac was born in Maumee, the oldest of four children. She has three younger brothers. She went to St. Joseph’s School and has never really left the parish. While she was growing up, she spent a lot of time with her grandparents who lived next door to her on both sides. They were great people! Mrs. Zavac went to McAuley High School which was an all girl’s Catholic high school that is no longer around. She did a lot of theater and music there and when she graduated, she went to Bowling Green State University and started out with a major in music. When that didn’t work out, she changed to History, which she graduated with a degree in. While in college, she worked at the Anderson’s store and met her husband Joe. He had gone to OLPH and then to UT. They married a year after she graduated from BG. One year later she had her first son David. Mrs. Zavac worked for the county for four years but when she got pregnant again, she decided to stay home. She had Christopher and Andrew while she was home for five years. Her first teaching job was at St. Hedwig’s downtown. She loved it! She was there for four years. She has been teaching here now for five years. She began by teaching Science and Health. That changed to Science and Religion and now she does all of the Religion for 6th, 7th and 8th grade. Mrs. Zavac loves St. Joseph’s! Her kids go here and she teaches here! There is nowhere better!
