Mrs. Heckman's Biography Mrs. Heckman grew up in Seneca County in Tiffin, Ohio. For 1st thru 3rd grades she went to Clinton Elementary School, 4th thru 8th grades she went to Tiffin St. Joseph, and then on to Calvert High School. Mrs. Heckman was actively involved in many things such as the orchestra/band, glee club, danced in the school musicals, and CYO. Mrs. Heckman attended Mary Manse College and graduated with a Bachelor’s of Education. During these years she participated in the orchestra, glee club, and sports programs. She taught at St. James for 9 years. When her children were in grade school she volunteered for 17 years in the Religious Education Department here at St. Joe’s Maumee. Since then, Mrs. Heckman has been blessed to teach at St. Joe’s Maumee for over 20 years. During her time at St. Joe’s she has been on several committees and have been actively involved in the school. She likes teaching because she gets to experience the energetic excitement of the students when they understand and feel positive about themselves and hear the children say, “I can!” Some other places she has worked include on the farm, babysitting, working at a strawberry farm, and in hospitals. If she were not a teacher she would be creatively helping others. Her husband, Dick, and she have been blessed with three sons, a daughter, a daughter-in-law, a son-in-law, and a grandson.
